![]() Katie Schmidt-Ahern Member - Timberline Board of Directors I live in Breckenridge with my husband Ryan, our daughter Rosie, and our dog Toko. I work as a play therapist for the Summit Community Care Clinic in the School Based Health Centers at Breck El, Upper Blue, Summit Cove and Summit High. I coach Girls on the Run and I am a board member at TLC. Since I worked for TLC for several through grad school I hope I bring a unique perspective. I am originally from Massachusetts, I moved to Colorado in 2006 to attend CSU as an undergrad. In the years since then I have traveled to and worked many places but always returned to Summit. ![]() Kyle Curran-Hays Vice-President - Timberline Board of Directors I moved to Breckenridge after college in 2004. I spent 3 years here really enjoying the mountains and area but felt it was too crowded, so I moved to Jackson Hole. That was a fun winter but I quickly realized Jackson is too secluded and I missed Summit County. I moved back the next fall and started Ski Patrolling at Breckenridge. I spent the next couple of summers living in Italy with my wife (Chiara) and ski patrolling in the winter at Breckenridge. We moved to the states 6 years ago and have been living in Summit County since. We have a little girl named Giulia, who is a Pinecone. She started attending TLC when she was 6 months old.

About Timberline:
We are a school for young children from ages 6 weeks to 6 years. Our approach is Reggio Emilia inspired. The following principles guide our approach and curriculum: The child is an active, strong, competent collaborator in the evolution of their learning. The teacher is a guide, rather than an instructor, who observes, questions, researches, documents, reflects, and interprets. The classroom is a teacher unto itself! The relationships that develop between the children, their families, and the teachers create opportunity for growth, reflection, and support. Long-term projects are at the core of our program, using the children’s interests, and the teacher’s observations, as the guide.
