Hello TLC Families,

Your children have been patiently waiting for Spring and today it feels like it has finally arrived.  We are so thankful for all that Spring brings: hikes, bikes, chalk, bubbles, flowers and plants, wildlife,  bugs, the list goes on and on. One of the most important Spring events is Promotion for the Big Grove Students that will be heading off to Kindergarten this Fall. We cannot believe that some of the children have been with us since they were tiny babies and are now heading off to the amazing world outside our doors.  If you see a Big Grove student, please take a moment to wish them well on their next adventure.

Snack: This Spring we have committed to moving forward using only organic dairy items for our snacks as we continue to offer nutritious "rainbow" options each day. This week representatives from Early Learning Ventures will be coming to TLC on Tues 5/24 from 4:00-6:00pm to share some innovative ideas nutritious snacks ideas with our families.  Please take a moment at pick up to stop by their table and discuss some new food pairing ideas that we will be incorporating here. to our students. We have been partnering with High Country Conservation and are now composting weekly in an effort to further lighten our footprint and lead by example.

Town of Breckenridge Tuition Assistance Program: Jen McAtamney has been hired to manage the Tuition Assistance Program and we are looking forward to resuming a decades old partnership with her.  Jen sat on Town Council for two terms, has championed numerous local initiatives such as workforce housing, the arts district, and perhaps, most importantly, the evolution of the Tuition Assistance Program. Jen will be at TLC on Weds 5/25 from 4:30-5:30pm to meet with interested families to discuss the current status of the program, the new improved application, as well as her vision for the future.  Please stop by her table to learn more and congratulate her on this exciting partnership.

Family BBQ: Several families have suggested more social opportunities to connect with other TLC families, so we would like to host a BBQ at the end of June on Tuesday 6/28 at 6:00pm.  We have enjoyed similar gatherings in the past and it creates such a warm and welcoming environment amongst new and old families alike.  As the date draws closer, please check in at the front desk for ways that you can participate in making this a wonderful event.

Parent/Teacher Conferences: Our Teachers have spent the month of May working on the ASQ and ASQ/SE tools and are looking forward to sharing their findings with you in June. We will post available times for these meetings by the end of this week and hope that if you have any questions or concerns you will take advantage of this time to connect with your child's Teachers. If you are unable to commit to the posted times, please let Emilie know and she will work to provide classroom coverage for another meeting time.

About Timberline:

We are a school for young children from ages 6 weeks to 6 years. Our approach is Reggio Emilia inspired. The following principles guide our approach and curriculum: The child is an active, strong, competent collaborator in the evolution of their learning. The teacher is a guide, rather than an instructor, who observes, questions, researches, documents, reflects, and interprets. The classroom is a teacher unto itself! The relationships that develop between the children, their families, and the teachers create opportunity for growth, reflection, and support. Long-term projects are at the core of our program, using the children’s interests, and the teacher’s observations, as the guide.
